In August of 2007, the U. S. Toy Industry Association (TIA), as a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), engaged ANSI staff to coordinate a public-private (consumer, government-manufacturer, and retailer) partnership, referred to as the Toy Safety Coordination Initiative (TSCI), to develop technical and international policy guidance regarding conformity assessment solutions for toy safety. In February of 2008, Technical / International policy guidance on Toys safety conformity assessment solution published. On May 1 2008, Toy Safety Certification Program (TSCP) went live. In February of 2009, TSCP went into start period and ECS went live.
As a participant and co-worker for developing TSCP with TIA, SGS North America has been approved as TSCP certification body, per ANSI confirmation, SH; HK and SZ office were covered in the scope.
SGS TSCP Procedure:
· Registration: All applicants should register through ECS of TIA;
· Application from clients;
· Clients offer relative;
· Apply for sample testing;
· Testing: Toy safety testing by SGS TSCP accredited lab and all testing result upload to ECS;
· SGS certification center review relative factory info, risk analysis report of product design and testing report and then decide whether it pass or not;
· SGS certification center upload all the information on ECS.
